Michael Kempson
Recently I have been making graphically crisp etchings, under the working title Beauty and Banality, that delve into detritus like cans, bottles, stones and seedpods that almost litter very ordered environments. I seek to ameliorate objects considered to be insignificant so they become metaphorical characters in a bigger drama. Using fairly parched humour and oblique references, prevalent contradictions are revealed in the way we choose to live our lives.
