Founded in 2004, Sydney artist-run initiative 1/2 doz. work as a mobile event setting up temporary focus points for visual artists. Directed by Jasper Knight, Dougal Phillips, David Teh, and Oliver Watts, 1/2doz. is based in an office and studio space in Sydney. In February 2007 they opened Chalk Horse, a gallery space in Surry Hills, Sydney which runs parallel to 1/2doz. projects and serves as a base for exhibitions in inner Sydney.
1/2 Dozen have curated a Match Box Gallery presenting works by 1/2 doz founding directors Jasper Knight and Oliver Watts, and 3 artists who have exhibited in their projects - Clemens Habicht, Julian Meagher & Georgina Rawson.
To date the Gallery has toured through Sydney and Melbourne and been exhibited in various exhibitions including Kudos Gallery, Paddington; Gosford Regional Gallery, Central Coast; and Japan Foundation Gallery, Sydney.
