Julian Meagher
Meagher has a great interest in the human body both as an artist and as a doctor. In his latest series of works, which this sketch represents, Meagher juxtaposes a traditional nude/portrait with the x-ray view of the sitters skeleton. The viewer does not know whether the viewing positon is libidinal and voyeuristic or medical; there is an uneasy relationship between registers, one abject the other symbolic.
