1/2doz. have moved on

Founded by four Directors in 2003, 1/2doz. produced an extensive program of exhibitions and projects featuring emerging artists from Sydney, interstate and overseas

From 2003 to 2006 1/2doz. directors worked with a spaceless model to produce a range of short-term and site-specific exhibitions in venues including the Museum of Sydney, the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Asia-Australia Art Centre and Hoyts Cinemas, George St. They also curated specific projects for the Chauvel Cinemas, First Draft and the Ivan Dougherty Gallery.

In 2007 the Directors of 1/2doz. opened a gallery named Chalk Horse, which ran as an ARI before establishing Chalk Horse as a Commercial Gallery Space. Chalk Horse promotes emerging art practices from local and indigenous artists as well as shows the work of artists from Asia and the United States. Over 2009-10 1/2doz presented a series of exhibitions by emerging artists in the Chalk Horse Project Room. Chalk Horse was located at 94 Cooper St, and 8 Lacey St, Surry Hills. It has recently moved to Lower Ground, 171 William Street, Darlinghurst.
