GOSFORD CLOSING EVENT - 25 March, 2007
CELEBRATION OF CONTEMPORARY ART AND AUSTRALIA-JAPAN CONNECTIONS
On the last day of our People to People, Place to Place exhibition at Gosford Regional Gallery, we hosted a special event celebrating Contemporary Art, Australia-Japan Connections and the progress of The Australia-Japan Match Box Project over the past year.
DAYS EVENTS
INFLUENCE JAPAN - ONE DAY ART EXHIBITION
We invited Sydney Match Box Participants who have a strong relationship with Japan through their art practice to create works outside the box for Influence Japan - a one day exhibition in the Gallery’s Gosford Edogawa Commemorative Garden. Everyone enjoyed strolling around the stunning Japanese Gardens viewing the works.

PEOPLE TO PEOPLE - ARTISTS TALKS
In the Gallery, we gave an introduction to People to People, Place to Place and how the Australia-Japan Match Box Project evolved.

Match Box Participants discussed their work:
Jennie Tate gave an insight into her current experimental film on Tokyo, and the relating 6 storyboards being exhibited in her Match Box Solo Gallery. She discussed the special meaning of the Fox in Japan, the carrier of messages to the God of Fertility.
Mary-Anne Kyriakou discussing “Sydney to Tokyo: LED’s Light Me Up”, of which her video installation was exhibited in the Gallery’s Arts Centre for the day. (NB:LED = Light Emitting Diode)

CELEBRATING AUSTRALIA-JAPAN CONNECTIONS
We conducted an art and cultural corner and invited various Japanese Cultural Arts Associations to join us in introducing Japanese culture to the local community
JAPANESE TEA CEREMONY DEMONSTRATIONS AND TASTINGS
The Sydney Urasenke Association conducted Tea Ceremony Demonstrations. Throughout the day many visitors gained an insight into the art of the Tea Ceremony, tasting Japanese sweets and green tea.
KOTO PERFORMANCES
Members of the Sawai International Koto School gave am and pm performances, and spent the day introducing the koto to the public.

BONSAI EXHIBITION & DEMONSTRATIONS
The Bonsai Society of the Central Coast exhibited an amazing range of Bonsai and conducted Bonsai demonstrations.
CULTURAL CREATIVE CORNER - THE ARTS CENTRE
Thanks to Ayumi, Kazuki, Lucy, Naomi and Gosford Regional Gallery Volunteers, many enjoyed the Children’s Creative Corner & Learning Centre in the Gallery’s Art’s Centre

Many young members of the Gosford community and visitors from Sydney created artworks for our Community Friendship Wall
Gosford Town Crier, Stephen Clarke closed the day in Japanese Garden.
