GAFFA
Our first stop was a visit to Gaffa, Surry Hills to pick up our ARI Maps. Co-Director, Kelly introduced the space and we gave an insight to the launch of our Archive Project which we were exhibiting.
AUSTRALIA COUNCIL & ARI SYDNEY
We passed the Australia Council Windows on Elizabeth St, which rotate with displays/exhibitions presenting projects/organisations they support. Next pass by point was ARI Sydney - they hold events infrequently in their space. The most recent was a performance by Brown Council.
BLACK & BLUE GALLERY
Next stop was Black and Blue Gallery where Jack Jeweller introduce the space and the work of exhibiting artist Hana Shimada.
RIZZERIA @ BLACK AND BLUE
Black and Blue Gallery also plays host to Rizzeria and we gained an insight to this stencil press collective.
BOUTWELL DRAPER & GRANT PIRRIE WINDOW PROJECT SPACE
On our tour route we passed commerical Galleries Boutwell Draper and Grant Pirrie. We were introduced to Grant Pirrie's Window Project Space, an amazing initiative for emerging and unrepresented artists. See more at Grant Pirrie Window
ADAM HILL STUDIO VISIT/ILC BUILDING
Next stop was Adam Hill's studio. Adam is a local artist taking part in our Match Box Gallery Series - the project which inspired us to create the ARI Guide. After an amazing visit to his studio, we passed by his work he was commissioned to create for the outside facade of the ILC Building(Indigenous Land Council), which is also the new home of Koori Radio.
LOCKSMITH PROJECT
Next stop was ARI Locksmith where we were introduced to the ARI and Marley Dawsons exhibition - being the last day they were having a BBQ outback to celebrate.
SLOT AND TONY TWIGG STUDIO VISIT
Lasts but not least was the amazing SLOT, another free space, run by Gina Riley and Tony Twigg, who gave an amazing insight to their space, We also ventured into Tony's studio (he created the art space in the front of his window).
