People Make Places

As we immerse ourselves in diverse regions across the globe, we are inviting everyone we meet to consider their own sense of place by creating a small matchbox size diorama expressing what they wish to share with the world about where they live. To date we have collected over 4000 individual’s dioramas from Melbourne, Sydney, Shanghai, Deniliquin, Mosman, Venice, London, Berlin, Edinburgh, Dubai, Adelaide, Cannes, Amsterdam, Paris, Lane Cove, Brisbane, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Perth and Nadi. Each matchbox has been hand-delivered to us at rendezvous, pop-ups and meet ups we have had in each city/town. Locals have shared with us and fellow residents what they have created before we have added each matchbox to our portrait of their region. This ongoing series of mixed media portraits interprets and celebrates these places through the diverse perspectives of local residents.

We aspire to include diverse rural and urban regions across all continents in this project.
